If there's a time
that we ever see
The nature of life in reality
Then I want to be there
To kick at the answer
Nothingness seems so inevitable. Logic and reason point toward its path seemingly from every approach. Is there any escape?
The meaningless and irrational world seethes around us. We seek value in and of itself and meaning in human life yet find only the swirl of a purposeless and pointless universe. Yet, the two exist together. Seeking of meaning where there is none. It is absurd.
Our only choice is how to respond. We can deny it and flee into existentialism. We can submit to it and sink into nihilism. Or we can embrace it and live in spite of the Absurd. Can we find contentment in the personal meaning, however transient, we create in the meaningless chaos? Does it matter that any framework of meaning or purpose we construct will fall to pieces as we die?
Can I live authentically in a world that is false? Can truth be found in the world of illusion?
The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.
― Albert Camus
It doesn't matter in the end. I can only be me. I can only seek the truth. When the world and universe make no sense, have no reason for being, I can only search for meaning and forge my own purpose. Against the raging nothingness I can only create.
The most common form of despair is not being who you are.
― Søren Kierkegaard
It is enough, for me, to be.
